Requirements
• Strong candidates typically bring experience across several of the following areas: • Professional experience building full-stack software systems • Backend development using Python, including frameworks such as FastAPI • Backend systems development using Go • Frontend development using React and modern JavaScript • Experience deploying applications using Docker and Kubernetes • Familiarity with microservices, APIs, and distributed systems • Ability to work independently, solve complex problems, and deliver working software quickly • Comfort operating in environments where engineers take ownership of technical outcomes • Experience using modern development tooling and engineering workflows • Travel • This role includes periodic travel for engineering collaboration sessions, including several extended working sessions during the year. Travel schedules are planned in advance and designed to support focused development and team collaboration. • Clearance • Candidates must be eligible to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility. • Rackner is a software consultancy focused on building mission-critical systems for the U.S. government. Our engineers work across AI/ML, DevSecOps, cloud platforms, and distributed systems, supporting federal agencies and national security initiatives. • Engineering teams collaborate closely with technical leadership and program stakeholders to design and build scalable platforms addressing complex operational challenges. Engineers are encouraged to take ownership of their work, contribute ideas, and help shape the systems they build.
Responsibilities
• Design and develop modern full-stack applications and distributed systems • Build backend services using Python (including frameworks such as FastAPI) and Go • Develop frontend interfaces using React and modern JavaScript frameworks • Deploy and operate applications in containerized and Kubernetes-based environments • Rapidly prototype and validate new platform capabilities • Contribute to architecture and system design discussions • Build scalable APIs and services supporting evolving platform needs • Use modern engineering tooling, including AI-assisted development tools, to accelerate development • Collaborate with engineers and technical leadership to move concepts into production-quality systems
